Ash Wednesday and Good Friday

Please remember that Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are days of penance, fasting, and abstinence. We do not eat meat on these days and we fast in general from food. You may take one meal and have two lighter intakes of food. Additionally, we recall that our law asks us to refrain from eating meat on Fridays of Lent.

This is a laudable practice that can be done throughout the year. In fact, every Friday is supposed to be a day of penance throughout the year per canon 1250. That means we should find something extra to do, like not eating meat, saying additional prayers, or spending more time with Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament on every Friday.
