The Feast of St. Eugene
This Friday, June 2, is the feast of Pope St. Eugene I, patron of the Cathedral. The faithful may obtain a plenary indulgence by making a visit to the Church any time from noon, Thursday, June 1st, through Friday, June 2nd, and reciting one Our Father, the Creed, and prayer for the intentions of the Holy Father. The usual conditions apply of sacramental Confession and Eucharistic Communion several days before or after the visit, but it is fitting that Communion be received on the day of the visit, so plan on attending a morning Mass! (It is also First Friday.) Pope St. Eugene became pope in 654, died in 657, and was buried in the crypt of St. Peter's Basilica in Rome.
