Pray the Rosary for Our Country

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Originally, I had hoped that we would be able to resume our weekday 6:45 a.m. Mass starting August 3rd; however, because of the renewed restrictions, I don’t think it would be prudent to resume with the congregation having to sit outside in the cold! I will keep a close eye on any new communications from the Governor and the Sonoma County Health Department and if the indoor restrictions are lifted, I will let you know and we will then resume the 6:45 a.m. Mass at that point. Also, we WILL be offering the Tuesday evening Latin Mass, (5:30 p.m. today) outside the east entrance. Please join us if you can.

Finally, our Gift Shop/Bookstore would like you to know that the month of August is dedicated to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. The store is celebrating with a store-wide sale on all in-stock books at 25% off! There is also a special section for books that are marked down 30% to 40%. The store is open Wednesday – Sunday. Please stop by and take a look!

Yesterday, I gave a short homily on the First Reading from Jeremiah and the Gospel of Mathew about rot and growth. I noted that, when we allow ourselves to be corrupted by the wicked ways of the world, there will be negative consequences (rot), but when we cooperate with the grace of God, there will be a flourishing of blessings and growth. Along these lines, Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI tells us, “The world offers you comfort, but you were not made for comfort. You were made for greatness.” Let us not feel downtrodden by the bad things we see all around us, but let us take comfort in these words of victory and hope!

Many statues of our Lord have been defaced and destroyed. Let us honor Him by paying homage to the Devotion dedicated to the Most Holy Face of Jesus:

The Most Holy Face of Jesus - what a tremendous gift given to us by our Heavenly Father! Happy are those who hear His message. Happier and more blessed indeed are those who act upon it! Our Lord said, "When I return, will there be faith on Earth?" We have been given an awesome opportunity by our Heavenly Father, the Devotion to the Most Holy Face of Jesus, His Beloved Son with whom He was so well pleased.

Prayer to the Mary Immaculate Patroness of the United States

Immaculate Mary, Mother, teacher and Queen, watch over with a loving smile this blessed land of America and her children. Your heart expands so as to welcome and enfold all peoples in the loving embrace of peace.

You continue to look down on the earth, upon the just and the erring, ever solicitous for the salvation of all. You remember that Jesus when dying on the cross, assigned you as our Mother and inflamed your heart universal love and solitude. Therefore, continue to inspire vocations, comfort the evangelical laborers and render all hearts docile to the Divine Master.

Through you may this great people ever more find in Christ the Way, the Truth and the Life; may they let his light shine before the world; and may they always seek the kingdom of God and His justice.
