Respect Life Quote
Freedom is not the ability to do whatever we want; freedom is the power to do what is right, to always respect the truth and to choose life.
St. Eugene’s Cathedral School
From the Principal’s Desk:
Catholic school education is distinguished by principles, such as:
• School and parents are educational partners.
• The school engages the ‘whole person’ of the student.
• Teachers are professionally competent and personally suited to educate.
• The Catholic school uniform reflects a self-respect and reverence for the God Who made you. The uniform also creates a culture of discipline and order in the school.
Report cards went out last week and parent conferences followed the next day.
This week, St Eugene’s Preschool will be talking about things we are grateful for, in preparation for the Thanksgiving holiday. Preschool will be having our annual "Sharing Feast".
Happy Thanksgiving from St. Eugene's School and Preschool!
Liturgy Q & A
Why is our Catholic liturgy called “Mass”?
What is the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass?
Respect Life Question
Remember Chastity? There's a word we no longer hear, while we are consistently told about "unplanned pregnancies." To be sure, not so long ago, parents, teachers and pastors extolled the virtue. Isn't it time to bring back chastity? It could solve the problems of unplanned pregnancies, and prepare young people for a happy life.

Christmas Tree Rebates
Last Christmas St. Eugene’s received a rebate of $853! Thank you for supporting the parish when you buy your tree at Kringle’s Korner Christmas Trees at the Luther Burbank Center.
We will receive a 15% rebate for St. Eugene’s. Green rebate cards are in the vestibules. Turn in the card to Kringle’s when you buy your tree. If you don’t have a card, just tell your sales clerk that you are from St. Eugene’s and want to participate in the rebate program. The parish uses the rebates to help offset the cost of church Christmas greenery.
Meet our New Pastor
This Sunday, November 5th, at all of our Coffee and Donut social times after Mass, Fr. Moses Brown will be stopping by the Parish Life Center, so please come by after Mass between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon and welcome him to our parish!
All Souls Remembrance
It’s not too late to turn in your All Souls’ Remembrance envelopes to either the collection plate or the Parish Office. You can find envelopes on the tables in both vestibules. All envelopes received are placed on the altar during the entire month of November. As Catholics, we know that our prayers help those in Purgatory and this belief is rooted in Scripture.
Respect Life Quote
"When a baby is born, the mother is sure to be nearby. There is no guarantee that the father will be nearby. Society needs a cultural mechanism to connect the father to the child and to the mother with whom he brought the child into the world - and that cultural mechanism is MARRIAGE." — S.F. Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone

Golden Opportunities
Golden Opportunities, our group for Seniors, will be having their monthly meeting in the Parish Life Center on Thursday, November 9, at 11:30 a.m. Members will be providing various soups for lunch. Also, we are honored to have as our guest, Father Gabriel Sanchez, Principal of St. Eugene Elementary School. Father will give a talk telling us more about our school. A suggested donation of $3.00 for lunch will be appreciated.
If you are not yet a member of Golden Opportunities, please use this opportunity to join us!
Crying Room
Often times, small chapels or churches do not have space for a special room where parents can go with their little ones when the baby gets fussy. This results in the parents having to take baby outside or staying in their pew, frustrating those around them when the little one cries. We are blessed at St. Eugene’s to have a refurbished, sound-proofed room, complete with a sound system, restroom and changing station for those of you with fussy babies. We invite you to please make use of this room, located off the front vestibule, when needed, so that all who are in attendance can pray and concentrate on the most supreme act of worship known to man, the Holy Mass. Thank you for your consideration in helping to make our time together as a parish family a holy and edifying experience.
Daylight Savings Time Ends
Daylight Savings time will end next Sunday morning, November 5, at 2:00 a.m.! Remember to turn your clock back one hour the evening before!!

Tuesday Night Latin Mass
As many of you know, every Tuesday we offer a Latin Mass here at 5:30 p.m. Fr. Keyes is scheduled to be the celebrant of this Mass and is currently out of town. While he is away, Mass in the Ordinary Form (English) will be offered instead. Upon his return, the Mass will once again be offered in the Extraordinary Form (Latin).
We thank you for your patience with this brief and temporary change.
Project Christmas Child
The Little Flowers girls’ group is planning once again to provide needy children with shoe boxes filled with small gifts this Christmas. The boxes are filled with practical (small) things like tooth brushes, soap, toiletries and socks as well as school supplies and fun things like stickers, etc. A large donation box is in the main vestibule until November 12 to collect your gifts. Also, if you have any shoeboxes to donate, that would be greatly appreciated, too!
Thank you for helping needy children!
