October 21 & 22: World Missions
October 28 & 29: St. Vincent de Paul
Thank you so much for your continued generosity!
World Mission’s Mission
This Sunday, October 22, is World Mission Sunday. Your World Mission gift may be used to buy Bibles for catechists in Sierra Leone or provide for a small parish in India. Your offering may be used to help Sisters in Sudan lovingly care for orphans in Jesus’ name, or it may buy a bicycle for a priest in Thailand so that he can travel from village to village to celebrate Mass.
All Saints’ Eve Party
Families are invited to attend the All Saints' Eve Celebration at St. Eugene's Cathedral on Tuesday, October 31st, from 3:15-5:15 p.m. in the Gym. The celebration is free, and there will be many fun games. Children are encouraged to come dressed up as their favorite saints!
Families are also invited to attend Latin Mass following the party at 5:30 p.m. in the Cathedral. (Please note that the Mass will fulfill the Obligation for attending Mass on All Saints' Day.)
To ensure we have enough candy bags for all, please RSVP (calls only, please, no texts) to Julie Aggio at (707) 526-6684 by Sunday, October 29th.
Respect Life Committee
Every parish should have a Respect Life Committee. St. Eugene's does, but it is very tiny - 5 people on a good day! We welcome new members. How about you retired folks? Parents whose children are grown up? Our meetings are held on the last Monday of each month, 3:30 p.m. in the Parish Life Center. The next meeting will be on October 30th. Please phone Betty at 707-542-5060, for more info.
Also, please offer extra prayers this month for an ending to abortion for it is Respect Life Month. We are reminded that, “Children are a gift from the LORD; they are a reward from him. Children born to a young man are like arrows in a warrior’s hands. How joyful is the man whose quiver is full of them! He will not be put to shame when he confronts his accusers at the city gates.” – Psalm 127:3-4
Project Christmas Child
The Little Flowers girls’ group is planning once again to provide needy children with shoe boxes filled with small gifts this Christmas. The boxes are filled with practical (small) things like tooth brushes, soap, toiletries and socks as well as school supplies and fun things like stickers, etc. A large donation box will be placed in the main vestibule from October 22—November 12 to collect your gifts. Also, if you have any shoeboxes to donate, that would be greatly appreciated, too!
Thank you for helping needy children!

Credit Card Donations
Consider paying your parish contributions with your credit card. Log into our website (www.steugenes.com) and select “Give”. The system allows you to manage your own donations online including Sunday plate, second collections, adoration, capital improvements and more. The amounts are automatically credited to your giving history.

Please join us in welcoming Fr. Brown to the Cathedral!
October is Respect Life Month
“All of us must put our energy and effort into ending the legal protection for abortion. It is, and must be, the primary political objective of American Catholics. It is difficult to imagine any political issue with the same significance as the sanctioned killing of children." Archbishop Samuel Aquilla, (Denver, Colorado)
Please pray to end abortion!
You will find prayer cards in the vestibules of the church with a beautiful prayer on the back.
Please take one home with you and pray for a change of heart and mind for those who think of abortion as a viable choice.

All Souls’ Day Envelopes
The month of November is traditionally the month we remember our beloved dead. This memorial begins on All Souls’ Day, Thursday, November 2nd, and continues throughout the month of November. All Souls Day reminds us that we are a Church of community. We are the Church Militant here on earth because we are still waging the fight. The saints in heaven, whom we honor on All Saints’ Day, constitute the Church Triumphant. On All Souls Day, we remember and pray for the Church Suffering (Purgatory). Special envelopes are available in both vestibules for the names of departed loved ones. Please turn in your envelopes to the collection basket on October 22nd or 29th for your loved one to be remembered at all Masses during the month of November. (All envelopes received will be on the altar during the month of November.)

October is Respect Life Month
Every October, we consider more deeply why every human life is valuable and reflect on how to build a culture that protects life from conception to natural death.
Do you know that over 64 million babies have been killed in this country since abortion was legalized in 1973? And Planned Parenthood, the biggest provider of abortion, got $500,000,000 last year from the government - that is, from YOU, the taxpayer.
This should greatly disturb each and every one of us. Please pray to end abortion!
You will find prayer cards in the vestibules of the church with a beautiful prayer on the back.
Please take one home with you and pray for a change of heart and mind for those who think of abortion as a viable choice.
My Catholic Faith
Way back on the First Sunday of Advent, 2014, I began sharing articles with you concerning the Catholic Faith that I found to be compelling. I knew that not everyone had a computer or was computer-savvy and so, it seemed like a great way for all of us to stay informed as well as to learn more about our Faith. Unfortunately, with my departure coming up at the end of the month, I will have to stop doing this. Therefore, next Sunday, October 8th, will be the last time I run any articles for the “My Catholic Faith Section” of the bulletin. As of October 15th, you will notice a much thinner bulletin as a result.
I hope you enjoyed reading the articles as much as I enjoyed sharing them with you!
God bless, Fr. Epperson
