No Christmas Mailing This Year
Due to the many transitions at the Parish Office in the past month, there will not be a Christmas mailing this year. The Pastor’s Christmas letter, Advent-Christmas Mass schedule, flower envelopes, and Christmas envelopes will all be available in the vestibules and at the parish office. The Pastor’s Christmas letter and the Advent-Christmas Mass schedule will also be available in the bulletin or on our website.
Thank you for your understanding.
Holy Day of Obligation
This Thursday, December 8th, we celebrate the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a Holy Day of Obligation. The Church teaches that from the very moment of her conception, the Blessed Virgin Mary was free from all stain of Original Sin. This means that from the beginning, she was in a state of grace, sharing in God's own life, and that she was free from the sinful inclinations which have beset human nature after the fall.
ICF Fundraiser
The Italian Catholic Federation Branch 198 of St. Eugene promotes and supports the Catholic faith and its values, and encourages apostolic and charitable works. To continue our efforts to help those in need, we are sponsoring a fundraiser to support our charities and scholarships by offering See’s candies to sweeten your holiday.
Visit our order table in the PLC between 8:30 a.m. and noon on Sundays from now through December 10 to place or pick up your order.
Cathedral Christmas Decorating
The Advent season is upon us and Christmas will soon be here! We need volunteers to help decorate the Cathedral for the season. The decorating will take place on Saturday, December 23rd, beginning at 9:00 a.m. The decorating usually takes about two hours to complete.
If you think you can lend a hand, please call Maria at 542-6984, ext. 100.
Retirement Fund for Religious
Over time, the number of vocations has decreased while lifespans have increased. The result is far fewer younger members available to support the retirement and eldercare needs of senior members. Currently, 71 percent of the religious communities have a median age of 70 or older. Your donation to this cause is greatly appreciated!
Christmas Tree Rebates
Last Christmas St. Eugene’s received a rebate of $853! Thank you for supporting the parish when you buy your tree at Kringle’s Korner Christmas Trees at the Luther Burbank Center.
We will receive a 15% rebate for St. Eugene’s. Green rebate cards are in the vestibules. Turn in the card to Kringle’s when you buy your tree. If you don’t have a card, just tell your sales clerk that you are from St. Eugene’s and want to participate in the rebate program. The parish uses the rebates to help offset the cost of church Christmas greenery.
