The Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God
The Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God is this Monday, January 1. Since the Solemnity falls on a Monday, unlike other years, the precept to attend Mass is abrogated. (It is not a Holy Day of Obligation.) The Holy See approved the decree of the USCCB effective January 1, 1992.
However, there is a full schedule of Masses to start the new year worshipping God and giving Him thanks for the awesome gift of our Mother Mary.
The Mass schedule for this Solemnity is:
6:45 a.m., 8:00 a.m., 1:30 p.m. (Latin),
5:30 p.m., & 7 p.m. (Spanish)
Sanctuary of Life
This weekend we celebrate the Feast of the Holy Family. Though He was conceived of a virgin, Jesus nevertheless lived as a son in a human family -- a family which points the way for the rest of us. The family is the sanctuary of life. There can be no life without family, and there can be no family without life. The family, above all, is where life is to be welcomed, no matter how fragile or inconvenient it may be. One of the many reasons why abortion is the preeminent issue is because, as St. John Paul II pointed out in “The Gospel of Life,” these crimes are committed by one family member upon another.
****** May the Holy Family lead us to a Culture of Life! ******
Second Collection
December 30 & 31: the St Vincent de Paul Society

Thank you so much for your continued generosity!

St. Eugene’s Cathedral School
Spread the word that St Eugene’s School is a faith-based alternative to local public schools. Catholic schools exist to form young persons in Christ and in culture. The formation in Christ entails building the capacities of each student for life with God in time and in eternity. The formation in culture entails building the intellectual, emotional, and physical capacities of each student for responsible life in society. Call (707) 545-7252 for more information or go to our website steugenesch.org

Retirement Fund for Religious
Over time, the number of vocations has decreased while lifespans have increased. The result is far fewer younger members available to support the retirement and eldercare needs of senior members. Currently, 71 percent of the religious communities have a median age of 70 or older. Your donation to this cause is greatly appreciated!
Flower Memorial Envelopes
You will find Christmas Flower donation memorial envelopes in both of the vestibules. The deadline for loved ones names to be published in the Christmas bulletin is Tuesday, December 12, by 12:00 noon. Please return your envelopes either to the collection plate by Sunday, December 10th, or to the Parish Office by December 12th.
Please help the bulletin staff by returning your flower envelopes as soon as possible to the collection baskets or to the Parish Office.
